Peek-A-Woof Jake

Jake is a very special dog ~ A “Survivor” to be exact.

Jake was diagnosed with a soft tissue sarcoma in April 2009. In other words, he had a golf ball size tumor on this front leg. Here are two pictures from his owner’s website: http://www.thatsoftdog.blogspot.com/

He was given 4 months to live in April 2009.  Jake was accepted into the clinical drug trail at Colorado State University Animal Cancer Center http://www.csuanimalcancercenter.org/. His owner Mike just wanted a few weeks or maybe months with his canine friend.

Jake went through cancer treatment and he is now Cancer FREE! Miracle Dog! Some people are probably wondering – Why does he have braces on his legs if his cancer was on his front leg? Well, Jake is an active dog and tore his ACL in both legs. He is not a candidate for surgery to fix his knees until after his cancer treatment. He now wears braces from a local company called Orthopets (http://www.orthopets.com/).

Jake doesn’t seem to notice that anything is different about his life ~ he is just a happy dog.

Jake will be showcased in the book “Survivors”.

A little about the book:

“Survivors – Your Best Friend’s Journey with Cancer”.
Five inspirational stories of dogs with cancer and how they overcame the disease with Medicine, Love and Support.

This book will be released in Sept 2010 and 100% of the proceeds goes to the CSU Animal Center www.csuanimalcancercenter.org and Bow Wow Buddies Foundation www.bowwowbuddies.org

Thank you Jake + Mike!
