Inspiration in Paris ~

Everything has a beginning. I have had *many* beginnings in my life – one of my beginnings was in Paris 2008.  It is fitting to start my new blog (goodbye old blog:  http://jaimerowephotography.blogspot.com/) with a “beginning” in my life.

In June 2008, my sister called me on a whim and asked me if I wanted to go to Paris (seriously…do you have to even ASK someone if he/she wants to go to Paris????). I happily agreed and threw some scarves, cute tops and jeans into a bag with my camera. I was literally drooling on the flight over the atlantic. A feeling of Freedom + Pure Excitement coursed through my heart as I stepped out of the airplane. PARIS – I am here!

I still lived in Illinois at this time and going through a major transition in my life – what do I want to do? My husband and I had decided to leave the family business in Illinois and venture into the unknown. We had lived in Colorado after college + loved every moment (skiing, snowboarding, hiking, camping (ok – not a super big fan of this one but my hubby loves it so ON OCCASION I will suck it up + go). Always outside with Doc (my yellow lab) at my side. She was with me when I did my first fourteener (Mt. Quandary).

We moved to Colorado July 2008 so I was still in the “What should I do?” transition when I went to Paris. I walked around the city with my camera strapped to my hand with a 28-75mm f/2.8 on my Canon Rebel. Here are a few snippets of what I caught + what motivated me to pursue my love…photography ~

I plan on telling more of our story as I post more in the next upcoming months. I look forward to sharing my Love, my Passion and Adventures with you ~

hey jamie, your blog is fabulous! very colorful and vibrant!
i’ve got to ask, after reading how you came to chose photography, did you go through schooling or just teach yourself as you go? i love taking pictures of my kids, trying to capture that every so special pose or thought, etc. the pics just don’t look the same (of course i have a 35mm canon rebel ts) so i know the camera makes a difference…maybe i’ll consider classes just not much in the QCA to turn into a career…anyways, FANTASTIC JOB love the your pics!

I feel like my journey of studying photography has been a long one. I have taken several classes on lighting, portraits, photoshop, lightroom. I have attended weekend seminars about photography + business. I have found amazing photographers and emailed them (probably more like stalked and harassed them!) with a thousand questions. I still to this day pick the brains of other photographers that have a special knack that I so desire. I am constantly learning from my clients, colleagues and myself. So to answer you question (kinda) – I learned from several “schools” but also self-taught a great deal. Get out there and shoot! That is the best way to start! I look forward to hearing about your journey. Cheers!
