I just could not choose with all of the wonderful dogs that entered the contest so I chose to use a www.random.org a Random Number Generator. I entered in the total # of entries (13) and then I clicked ‘Generate’. It is a nifty little tool. I got the idea from www.cowbelly.com. Jamie P. used this website during another pet contest (I also attended one of her conferences back in 2008 and think the WORLD of her!).

Hudson started his life in New Jersey as a Seeing Eye dog. He has traveled all over the nation with his mom. He now works closely with his mom, Kellie at a local doggie day care, Barkly Manor http://www.barklymanor.com/. He is called the “fun police” and keeps the other dogs in line. After meeting Hudson – I can totally envision him as the “fun police”.

Hudson has a wise, warm feeling to him. He has seen a lot + been through a lot in his life. He has a sense of calm like waves on the ocean.

Grand Prize Winner – To his amazing story of being a Seeing Eye dog and therapy dog for children + seniors, his travels around the states, his obvious devotion to his mom and his fan base (honestly – I think this dog has more fans then the average celebrity).

Runner Up - “First to Sign Up” – Jeter.
Jeter’s parents were on it. They were the first to enter the contest (we got to give them something for that?)

Runner Up – “Second Largest Fan Base” – Kaiser.
He was right up there with Hudson with a huge fan base (4 comment difference). I look forward to seeing this “Weimie Race Track” business in the snow.

Runner Up – “Largest Entry” – Deacon.
Deacon is a GIANT mastiff weighing a full 210 lbs. (Holy cow!). I cried when I read that Deacon showed all of the foster dogs “the ropes” at his house. I can totally picture this.

Runner Up – “Most Creative Picture” – Lu + Max.
I just could not stop thinking about this picture! Lu 4-wheeling through this snow was just too much. Stinkin cute mini-pins.

Runner Up – “Most Touching Story” – Ponca.
This was probably the most difficult category. Many of you had touching stories that made me smile or stop for a moment. Ponca’s story of her infected eye, her lost eye and being dumped in a field. Just awful. Ponca has a new life that can never be taken away from her now. Loving moms and a warm home – and that snowplow thing (I just have to see this).

Honorable Mention – “Long Lost Sibling Reunion” – Koufax.
So I received a picture of a yellow lab that was the spitting image of my dog “The Doctor”. I did a double take. I could not believe how much this dog looked like my dog! It ends up that Koufax shares the same dad as “The Doctor”. They were born a month apart and their dad was “Rascal’s Big Deal”. (Who comes up with these names?) Koufax + Doc are going to have a reunion and see who can focus on a tennis ball longest this weekend. Thank you Liz for entering Koufax! Wonderful story also.

Whew! Thank you for supporting this contest! It was such a journey from reading all of your wonderful comments, meeting Doc’s half-bro, reconnecting with a brief acquiantance when I first started my biz in 2008 (Dublin’s dad), to reading personal e-mails from family members across the nation cheering for their favorite grand-doggie. Thank you everyone for the fabulous pictures and heart-warming stories.

Send me a picture of your dog with a little (100 words or less) about your dog’s “inner” self. Your dog will be entered in the “Release Your Inner Snow Dog” Contest 2010. A dog will be picked by me (yes – dog crazy me) based on the  image, creativity, story + well that gut instinct “thingy”.

The winner will receive a one hour photo session + $75 print credit. And I will gush your dog with extra loving attention during their photo session (as if I NEVER give extra attention to any other dogs that I photograph).

Spring is coming and this is your chance to get a rockin’ spring photo session for you + your favorite furry buddy!

So How Does This Work?

Step 1: Find a digital picture of your dog in the snow (a photo taken in 2009 or 2010 please).

Step 2: E-mail me: jaime@jaimerowephotography.com with your image (.jpg please) and a 100 words or less about your dog’s “inner” self. Also include: Your name, Dog’s name, address, e-mail address, and phone #. If you do not include this information then you will NOT be eligible (bummer!)

Step 3: Cross your fingers + kiss your pooch (or pooches) a lot (they deserve all the love anyway!).

Hey – don’t forget the fine print:

*Contest runs through midnight March 1st, 2010. contest is only available to dogs in the Denver area (sorry Colorado Springs and Boulder is not included). You can only enter a dog once in this contest (hey no cheaters here (i.e. sending in different photos (same dog) with different e-mail addresses). The $75 print credit is only that. Print credit cannot be used for anything else.
